Dr Andrew Shum, OD

Dr. Andrew Shum received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Memphis. Having grown up in the optometry business, he decided to pursue his love for helping people by becoming an optometric physician.  He earned his doctorate from the Southern College of Optometry, receving his medical license in 2016. He previously worked at a family eycare practice in South Carolina and a large retinal clinic in Louisville, Ky. He decided to continue the legacy his father began in 1974, to provide patients with a lifetime of exceptional eyecare.  Dr. Andrew is active in the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians.  He is also certified to practice Therapeutic Optometry and is DEA registered, which means if you ever have and eye injury or disease, he can help. He is an associate member of the  College of Optometrists in Vision Development.  He participates in the InfantSEE Program, which is a comprehensive infant eye health evaluation and vision assessment within the first year of age, free of charge. He also performs Visual Perceptual Evaluations for children with vision-related learning disorders. Most recently, Dr Andrew Shum was chosen to perform the vision screenings in the elementary schools within the Germantown Municipal School district. He is also an avid "trivia" fan. We challenge you to ask him any questions you might hear on Jeopardy just to see if you can stump him!

Dr. Steven R. Shum, O.D.

Dr. Steven R. Shum, ODDr. Shum, received his undergraduate training from the University of Tennessee, his Masters degree in education from the University of Memphis, and his doctorate in optometry from the Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Shum is certified by the Orthokeratology Society of America and is also certified to practice Therapeutic Optometry. He was on the faculty of the Southern College of Optometry from 1973 to 1986, and has been an adjunct professor there since 1989.

Dr. Shum has been in private practice in Germantown since 1975, and is licensed in Tennessee. He is DEA registered and a member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the West Tennessee State Optometric Association. He is an investigator for RGP, soft bifocal contact lenses, and contact lenses used in orthokeratology.

Dr. Shum is also a refractive laser surgery consultant, and a computer vision syndrome specialist using the PRIO procedure. He participates in the InfantSEE Program, which is a comprehensive infant eye health evaluation and vision assessment within the first year of age, free of charge. He has a special emphasis in the care and treatment of Chronic Dry Eye Syndrome. Furthermore, Dr. Shum performs pre and post operative cataract care. Dr. Shum also sees patients with eye infections or injuries.

Additionally, Dr. Shum is active in his community. He is a member of the Germantown Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer at the Church Health Center, Habitat for Humanity, and a participant in the Vision USA program.

Dr Danielle Hebert

dr hebertDr Hebert graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in biology. She received her Doctorate from the Southern College of Optometry where she was awarded the outstanding clinician award. She completed externship programs at Ducklo Eyecare in Nashville and Southeast Eye Specialists in Chattanooga. She gained experience in optometric primary care as well as specialty contact lens fittings, pediatric eyecare and ocular diseases. Dr. Hebert was involved in student and community activities such as the Lions Club. She served on a medical mission trip to Mexico to provide eyecare and eyeglasses to over 1000 patients in need. Dr Hebert and her husband recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl to their family. They enjoy time outdoors, camping and traveling with their dog, Tug.
